Altar Servers

Blessed Sacrament invites all boys and girls who have received their first Holy Communion to join our altar server team.

A gift to the community, altar servers not only assist the clergy throughout the Mass – as candle bearers, cross bearers, and book bearers –  they support the worship of the people through their prayerful actions.

“When you take part in the Liturgy by carrying out your altar service, you offer a witness to all. Your …devotion…expressed in gestures, in song, in the responses…is one that moves people.” ~ Pope Benedict XVI

If you, or a child of yours, are interested in learning more about this important ministry, please contact the parish office: (519) 742-5061.

  • No experience is necessary – in addition to beginner training, one formal training is held each year along with a special practice to prepare for the Easter Vigil.
  • Though altar serving is open to all who have received Communion, exceptions can be made for children who show a special devotion to the Eucharist even before their reception and whose parents consent.
