2011 INCOME TAX RECEIPTS:

Income tax receipts were available for pickup on Sunday, January 8. Some of you have received them but they were incorrect. Please keep that receipt and another one will be issued for the difference to make up the total amount you contributed in 2011. You will have 2 receipts when filling in your income tax. If anyone requires a summary, you may call the office and a copy will be printed for you.

Those who contributed to St. Vincent De Paul your receipt is placed with your church receipt in alphabetical order as well. Please file your receipts with the other documents necessary for preparing your income tax.

 

CATECHISM CLASSES:

on Friday, February 10 in the Meeting Room. There is no registration and no fee, just come with a desire to learn about our faith.

 

BIBLE STUDY

The Tuesday night Bible Study group will be doing a 6 week study for the Lenten season on prayer, fasting and almsgiving, using a study book by Kevin Perrotta. We will begin on Tuesday, February 28 until April 3 from 7 – 9 p.m. in the music room. The cost of the book will be approximately $12. and we will order as a group to save shipping costs. THE NEW EVANGELIZATION – Pope John Paul II declared that “...it is our duty to proclaim Christ to all peoples”. To assist us in this call, there is an exciting formation program being offered this summer from July 19 – 22 (Thursday and Friday evenings, Saturday and Sunday) at Blessed Sacrament Church. Do you deeply love our Lord and desire to share your faith with your friends and family? The School of Evangelization will open your faith and encourage, challenge and equip you to share the Gospel message with others. It will be led by Mission of the Redeemer Ministries (www.missionoftheredeemer.com). The cost is $99 per person and is limited to 40 participants. There is a Birthright Conference at Blessed Sacrament Church on October 20th/2012. Blessed Sacrament Catholic Women’s League has been asked to make the luncheon for about 40. Contact Connie Voll if you are able to help.

 

Friday, March 2 at 2 p.m. the World Day of Prayer is being held at St. Philip’s Lutheran Church at 236 Woodhaven St. (near Fairview Park Mall). It is open to all denominations and to both men and women. Come pray, attend the reception after, and meet some of your Christian neighbours.

Pancake Breakfast

DIOCESAN WEDDING
ANNIVERSARY MASS

MC900430185[1]Are you celebrating your 25th, 40th, 50th, 60th, or 60+ Wedding Anniversary in the year 2012?  If you are, you are cordially invited to join couples from across the Diocese of Hamilton for a Wedding Anniversary Mass on Sunday, September 9, 2012 at the Cathedral of Christ the King at 2:00 pm. (Space allows room for Anniversary couples only - those married 60 years or more may bring 1 guest).  Please refer to the poster in the at the entrance of the church closest to the office for information on how to register for the celebration.

 

Novena to Our Lady of Lourdes

Lady of LourdesThe Legion of Mary at St. Mark' Parish (55 Driftwood Dr., ) invites you to join them in saying a Novena to Our Lady of Lourdes to February 11th each day in the church at 6:30 p.m. All are invited to join in this time for prayer to Our Lady for anyone who maybe suffering, either physically or emotionally. For those that cannot attend we will be distributing small prayer cards for those who wish to join in at home during this week of special prayer to Our Lady. On February 11th, at the conclusion of the novena, we will have a small reception, where we will be presenting a movie about Our Lady of Lourdes and St. Bernadette. Refreshments and small snack will be provided to help celebrate. We hope to finish around 8 p.m. so the little ones can go home to bed. This is a great opportunity to teach your family about Mary and our faith. All are welcome.

A Baptismal certificate is necessary for the child and/or parent as proof of Catholicity. Also we require a birth certificate and the child’s updated immunization record. Children who have attended Junior Kindergarten do not need to be registered for Senior Kindergarten.

SEMINARY EDUCATION COLLECTION – FEBRUARY 5, 2012

The anCross & Fishnual Diocesan collection in support of the seminarians of the Diocese of Hamilton takes place this weekend. A seminarian is someone who is studying and preparing to be a priest. Please remember in your prayers the 16 seminarians who are preparing for priestly service in the Diocese of Hamilton. A diocesan priest commits himself to serve the people of God in loving imitation of Christ who came not to be served but to serve. LENTEN RETREAT

The season of Lent is fast approaching and we will soon hear these familiar, longing words: “Return to me with all your heart…” We invite you to respond to the Lord’s call by joining us as we participate in a Holy Spirit Retreat. Just as the Spirit led Jesus into the desert to pray, we too will ask the Holy Spirit to lead us through these 40 days and beyond into a deeper prayer experience and into a more intimate relationship with our God. The retreat will commence on Thursday, February 23rd, at St Anne’s Church, 268 East Ave, Kitchener, at 7:30pm and continue each Thursday for 7 consecutive weeks. Tune in to FM 98.5 (CKWR) on Sunday mornings at 9:00 for ‘THE HOLY ROSARY PROGRAM‘. Sixty minutes of prayer, music and reflection from the rich storehouse of Roman Catholic tradition. Bishop Fulton J. Sheen is featured on Monday evenings at 7:30 on FM 98.5 FM. Re-broadcasts of his shows “Life is Worth Living” and the “Catholic Hour” will be featured.

 

PERSONS SEPARATED AND DIVORCED

LEARNING TO COPE (Level I) is a ten week support program starting Tuesday, February 28th (7:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.) for persons experiencing the trauma of a separation or divorce.  For more information, please contact the Family Ministry Office at (905) 528-7988, ext. 2249. COME JOIN US TO FIND THE “KEYS TO LOVING RELATIONSHIPS”

 “Keys” is a ten week video-based program meant for anyone (married or single) who is looking for a more meaningful relationship with a spouse, family member or friend.  The program runs Thursday evenings from 7:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. starting March 1st, at the Chancery Office, 700 King St. W, Hamilton.  The cost is $45.00. PEER BEREAVEMENT SUPPORT GROUP

Has someone you cared about died? Are you feeling emotional, grieving the loss of the person’s presence in your life? Are you wondering if these feelings and your reactions are normal? Are you wondering if you are going to “make it”? If you said YES to any of these questions, you are not alone! A Bereavement Support Group will begin on Monday, February 13th at 1 p.m. – 3 p.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 49 Blueridge Ave. All are welcome! DIOCESAN CHOIR

The Diocesan Choir will be resuming its rehearsals Monday, February 20.  The choir provides music for the celebrations of the Chrism Mass,  Priesthood and Diaconate Ordinations, and the annual Mass with New Catholics.  New members are welcome.
