INTERIOR

The Tabernacle is the most holy part of the Church because this is the "Little House" where Jesus is. After Mass is over, the Body of Jesus under the form of Bread is placed in the tabernacle. A red lamp called the sanctuary lamp is always kept burning to remind us that Jesus is there. When we pass in front of the Tabernacle, we genuflect as a sign that we love Jesus and believe He is really there. The Tabernacle in Blessed Sacrament Church is from the Diocesan Cathedral of Christ the King in Hamilton. For nearly fifty years it was located on a side altar in the Cathedral. The crucifix is from the chapel of St. Jerome's College when it was located on King Street East in Kitchener. The Window of the Eucharist signifies that "Jesus took the five loaves, gave thanks, and gave them out to all who were sitting ready; He then did the same with the two fish, giving out as much as was wanted." (John 6:1 1)

The baptismal font is where the sacrament of Baptism takes place. In baptism we become a member of God's Family. The Paschal or Easter Candle beside the font reminds us of the Risen Christ and that in Baptism we receive the Light of Faith and the promise of eternal life. Holy oils are also present in the ambry (the box in the wall); they are used in baptism, confirmation and the sacrament of the sick.

The powerful statue of the Holy Family, near the baptismal font, is rich in symbolism. It depicts the Presentation of the Child Jesus in the Temple: "When the day came for them to be purified as laid down by the law of Moses, the parents of Jesus took Him up to Jerusalem to present Him to the Lord -- observing what stands written in the Law of the Lord: Every first-born male must be consecrated to the Lord -- and also to offer in sacrifice, in accordance with what is said in the Law of the Lord, a pair of turtledoves or two young pigeons." (Luke 2:22-24)

This is one of the many stained glass windows in Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church -- "In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth." (Genesis 1:1)

Our Christmas Tree, which we call the Tree of Life, is put up every year during the Christmas season. The tree is decorated with Angels containing the name of every child baptized during the year, and Crosses for everyone who died in our parish community during the year. In this picture you can also see some of our nativity scene with Jesus, Mary and Joseph.

On February 27, 1983 our pipe organ built by the Brunzema Company of Fergus, Ontario was dedicated in memory of Mary Anne Voisin, our first Choir Directress. Mary Anne died August 12, 1981 and the funeral was the first Mass of Christian Burial celebrated in the new church. The Catholic Women's League accepted the challenge to raise the funds for the organ as their Winter Wonderland Bazaars made history! In 1991 the Brunzema Company added a second manual to the organ. This is a picture of the inside of the church, taken from the point of entrance to the nave of the church. The church in this picture is decorated for Easter.

The Fifth Station: Simon of Cyrene Helps Jesus to Carry His Cross

This shrine by the entrance of the church is dedicated to St. Vincent de Paul who devoted his life to helping the poor. The St. Vincent de Paul Society was started by Blessed Frederic Ozanam to follow in Vincent's footsteps, and help the poor.
